Pricing a 3 year old reined cowhorse prospect.?

I have a 3 year old reined cowhorse prospect. She is bred extremely well 100% foundation bred. She dates back to Old Sorrel %26amp; Leo %26amp; Poco Bueno %26amp; Joe Reed %26amp; Yellow Jacket. She is out of Smart Little Pepinic %26amp; a mare I once owned who's grandfather is King Fritz %26amp; Peppy San. She has 90 days on her but I think I am going to get her finished in reined cow horse. The trainer said she is coming along great %26amp; thinks she will be a great show horse. I would like to know what a reasonable price would be. She is very sweet, learns quick, easy going, great to be around, no bad habits, had her since she was born, original owner. Gorgeous Sorrel with a blaze %26amp; 2 hind socks %26amp; a front sock. Great filly!

Why would you ever want to get rid of a horse like that?

Seriously, prices right now are all over the place, from several thousand for prospects to over $10,000 for finished, proven cowhorses.

Check here for some prices, then research what they are currently going for in your area:

Also, if she is in training right now, see if your trainer has anyone who might be interested in her - could save you the cost of an ad, plus the transportation costs to bring her back to your barn to sell her.
Reply:it all depends on where you live, who you are as a breeder, who your trainer is, what kind of show record the sire and dam had, the hay situation in your area and probably lots of other things.

Actually, your trainer would be better at giving you a reasonable price that we would.

If you live in the midwest, the sire and dam don't have exceptional show records, you aren't a known breeder, your trainer isn't a top of the line trainer and you're in one of the drought areas you probably won't be able to give the horse away.

If you do have all the things above you wouldn't have to ask.

Well broke, well bred mares with great looks and dispositions and show records can sometimes bring up to $5000 if you have tons of time to sell and advertise well. If you have to get rid of one quickly then $2500 is probably tops.
Reply:You've got what my old cowboy friend said everyone has, the 3 p's... pretty, papers, and potential. Once you get her finished your trainer should have a buyer lined up no problem, and if he's any kind of trainer at all he'll know what she's worth.
