Should I or should I not????

well someone gave me the idea that when I go to band my western pleasure horse's mane for a show that I should use a different colored rubber band. I thought that this whould look REALLY stupid but then she showed me a pic of her horse's (who's sorrel) mane banded with white bands. I thought that it looked pretty cool........but should I? should I band my mare like that? She is also a sorrel TB looking horse......or should I just stay with the flow and keep using the same colored bands as her mane?

Should I or should I not????
usually you use either the same color as your horses coat or white.

no you dont use it to match your shirt or your riding coat.

if you know how to band well then banding a dark horse with white bands creates a very smart appearance. however it's much MUCH easier to see little mistakes youve made.

white bands also look more professional on a horse with very much white in its coloring already.

i'd say unless your proficient with your skills to use the same color as her coat and experiment at home with white and see how you like it.

hope this helps you out :)

(like i said before i dont know what level your showing but at any circuit or even slightly more upperclass shows you will be looked down upon if you have bands that either arent white, dont match your horses coat or are a jacked up color its a big no-no)
Reply:Hmm... i dont know about the western world... but if you banded with a different colour band in the dressage/show jumping world... people would laugh at you... i really think you should keep with the same... its better presentation... but it maybe something that is more common in western so wait and check out the next show see what every one else is doing... good luck :)
Reply:go for it
Reply:Western is about standing out! Try to match your horses bands with your show clothes and pad!
Reply:hey thats a good idea about matching them up with your otfit. try it ! it wil look really cool :)
Reply:Nothing wrong with being creative, and I don't think it will effect the judges.
Reply:You want to be subtle with your choice of color on braid bands...Stay with the flow...you don't want to distract the judge's eye. One of the points of banding is creating a beautiful neck and head profile as you're going down the rail. It's not just "decoration"...there is a reason for doing it.
Reply:When I used to ride Western pleasure, it was as much about standing out as anything. My friend banded her horses mane with the same color rubber bands as her tack - hot pink.

If you saw the white and thought it looked good, why not? It might help the judge pick you out opposed to another sorrel horse.

I was riding a chestnut quarter horse in a show and my friend was on her crazy chestnut thorougbred. There were two other horses in the classes - a black and a bay. The judge pinned me low because he couldn't remember which chestnut horse was acting up...he just pinned us both third and fourth in every flat class. I was so mad at that judge!
Reply:Well, I use white bands, but I have a palomino. ;) lol, just do what you feel comfortable with!!!
Reply:you should use a different color. you would be unique!!! : )
