Can you put streaks in a horse's mane and tail?......like a sorrel horses tail or mane with black, blue, green, etc. streaks??? is that bad for your horse cuz i'd like to do it, but i DONT WANT TO HURT MY HORSE!!!
Horse Mane And Tail?
Yes! Me and a few other people dyed one of our little white ponies. We just used hair dye, we used pink, purple, green, blue and yellow...he was soooo cute! It wont harm your horse, but you want to try not to get it on their skin, in case they may be allergic to the dye. Also, you don't have to worry about other horses grooming yours because its hair dye. When you dye your hair and then if you suck on it or get it wet, it wont be in your mouth and get you sick. It also washes out pretty quickly, so its fun to do in the summer. I hope this helped, and that your horse looks amazing if you dye its mane and tail!
Reply:I knew a guy that used to dye his hair red with Jello and Hi-C concentrate. It would definately not be harmful and would probably look cool. He never told me how long he left it in, but I'm guessing you could add a little water to the powder and leave it on for a while.
Reply:I don't think you should.
What if another horse were to groom your horse and got some of the paint/dye in his or her mouth?
Reply:If you go to www.horse.com and do a quick search there you can find stuff to color and sparkle your horse's mane and tail, and all specifically made for horses.
We used to hold a kids camp every year and would paint the horses with washable paint (the crayola stuff you give to kids that comes out of clothes) and it was fine for them.
Have pictures if you want to see them.
Reply:You can put streaks in your horse's mane and tail, I'm pretty sure they make a black hair dye for horses. My old instructor used to dye the gray hairs in a bay show horse's mane. Never had a problem.
I don't know about colors such as blue and green. A vet might know if a certain dye contains harmful ingredients. If there's anything questionable - don't do it.
Reply:You see parade horses with their hair dyed. Call a tack shop and see if they know of anything that would be your best bet. I've heard of people bleaching the mane and tale personally why?
Reply:buy some of that hair spray paint. this way it wont hurt them, and it washes out very easily.
Reply:Try food coloring, it won't harm your horse.
Reply:I would stay away from any dyes not made specifically for horses, and even then I would be weary. I'd also avoid unnatural colors. If you ever wanted to show, the green or blue would not be appreciated. I'd also avoid doing anything to the tail. If the dye fried the hair and you had to cut it off, you'd be looking at several years before the tail grew back in.
Reply:Horses have hair like ars but horses don't have feeling in their manes.Although I've never realy tried to put high lights in my horses hair.I've been a horse owner for a little while so I know a little about my horse. If your horse if ilirgic to the die then that might not be a very good thing to do.I'd talk to my local ve t or a long time horse owner and ask them.I think there is a proudect for highlighting horses maines.
Reply:It is not good for them that is for sure
