What color should I choose?

I am going to pick out my new horse and I need a back up in chase there's two I like the same. The back up plan is the horses color.I don't want another palomino because I'm afraid I will think of my old horse to much and I won't bond with the new one and I my mom says I can't get a white (gray) quarter horse because it will get to dirty and I don't want a dark colored horse because I live in Florida.

So if you will pick a color out of the following a a little reason why I will be greatful.

the colors are:

Red Roan

Blue Roan

Red Dun

Buckskin

Sorrel

Thanks so much for your help!!

What color should I choose?
You should always pick a horse based on how well its matched to you. If you're young and need a slower safer animal, get the one that has the most of those qualities.

No two horses are trained and schooled the exact same way, and each has their own personality.

Pick the one that feels the safest while you're on it, and responds the best to your cues.

Dont pick based on color :) Its not a safe idea.
Reply:Yeah so i know you already know this... but please dont choose your horse based on the color! i know we all have preferences but if you go looking for a horse with a certain color you have in mind, then you could be missing out on other horses you like better. I do agree that not wanting a dark one because you live in the heat is a valid reason, and not wanting a palomino so you wont think of your old horse is valid too.

Ok so beyond the whole "dont pick for color" thing.... if you REALLY like two horses equally.... personally i LOVE buckskins and duns, they are the most gorgeous color, next to liver chestut (because i have a beautiful liver chestunt)
Reply:This is just my opinion, but if I were you,I would get a sorrel horse or a buckskin horse. They are both very beautiful colors for a horse. Just choose which color you feel looks good with the breed of horse you're getting.
Reply:You shouldn't choose based on color. A horse can't help that it was born with its color. As for grays getting dirty, no matter what color horse you get, they WILL get dirty, and there's no such thing as a perfectly clean horse. Somewhere, under all that hair, is a dust of dirt, sitting there, waiting to be discovered. It should suit your needs more than its looks. An "ugly" horse (I don't believe ANY horse is ugly) that has a straggly mane and odd-colored coat could be conditioned to look healthier, still maintaing that "hobo horse" look, but be the best horse you've ever ridden. A dark grullo gelding at my rescue barn, I can honestly say, I've felt his coat on the hottest of days, and he was just as hot as all of the other horses, so it really depends on the horse.
Reply:YEP YOU FIT RIGHT IN TO THAT 99.9 % OF HORSE PEPOLE WHO PURCHASE A HORSE ON COLOR ALONE
Reply:Sorrel!!! ........Because it looked the best from what I saw of all the other colors that I looked up. Pick one that suits you most importantly because you might get a horse you don't even like if you pick one upon color!
Reply:I choose buckskin, I've always been a fan of that color because you don't see that many horses that are buckskin so it's different. And I think they have a dorsal stripe witch I love!
Reply:i understand what you're saying but just make sure you're not choosing off of color! i know you're saying you wont though, so i trust you. i choose buckskin and then sorrel. i chose buckskin because i love it, and sorrel because thats the color of my horsie.
Reply:Well you obviously must know that temperment and obedience and matchability come before color...at least I hope you have that 'horse' sense...haha. Please don't chose just on color.

Personally my FAVORITE is Buckskin...my second favorite is Blue Roan...they are because of the odd coat color coupled with a darker mane and tail. I'm not fond of the red roan, red dun or sorrel...they're just boring colors. If it were me, I would also look for odd or cool markings that could make your horse very unique! =D

happy horse hunting! (only to buy, of course! ;D )
Reply:Coat color doesn't matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Red Roan nice, Blue Roan nice, Red dun nice, Buckskin, My choice, Sorrel Nice, I have running qtr broodmares with dorsal stripes, I like the bucks for a nbr of reasons, Look great under saddle, they have a strong appearance and presence about them.

However this little horse if your choice, You have to like how she or he is going to present themselves to you. Heat doe's not play a factor in Fl in reguards to the color of a Horse,

My farm is in Florida and i have been breeding them here for the past 25 years, Choose what you like, and best fits your discipline. good luck and take care/
Reply:Sorrel it fast
Reply:You cant be picky about the color of ur horse... i can understand not wanting certain colors but dont let that influence ur decision,

Example: I hate chestnuts and said that I would never get one, and the next thing I know my horse I have now is a chestnut and I couldn't ask for a better horse will have had him 2 yrs in july
Reply:Blue Roan or Buckskin. I personally love these two colors :)
Reply:I would decide on a breed because it depends what you are going to use the horse for, but some people are partial to certain breeds.
Reply:sorrel, won't fade in the sun %26amp; it's the color of most dirt and won't be hard to groom
Reply:I love a Buckskin...I love the ones with the long thicker black or brown stripe down center of back....I saw one shined up and it was magnificent.
Reply:You're picking out of 57 horses? good luck with that....

anyway, like everyone else said, no 2 horses will be exactly the same, even when picking from 57. Color should be the last thing you look at to decide unless you are buying a horse to breed for a specific color, or plan on showing on a color breed circuit.

Having said that, I personally would choose the buckskin or red dun, both of these colors can be registered buckskin, and be shown on the buckskin circuit which is a fun place to show.
Reply:Honey, a good horse is a good horse, and if you are choosing a horse based upon color, or NOT choosing one based upon color, you could either end up with a problem horse or could end up missing out on a great horse. THink of the old addage..."Don't judge a book by its cover"...
Reply:You should pick a horse going by their temperment and dispositon, and how much they are suited to your riding ability, not really on coat color, but I think you know that already,

if I had to pick, I would choose blue raon, because thats my geldings color and I love him! lol

Good lUck!
Reply:Since it's just your back up plan to pick one of 2 equals.... I like buckskins the most! Their black points with black mane and tail really gives them flash. If not a buckskin then a red dun, their primitive markings and the darker mane and tail offset their lighter color nicely.

Good luck and enjoy your new horse!
Reply:red dun / apricot dun
Reply:Sorrel would be the best choice if you live in flordia!
Reply:well roans if they get any scratches at all they r very visable and if u show then thats bad cuz the judges take of points... buckskin is still kinda dark there legs main and tail is black.... and sorrel is kinda plain so i would go with a red dun i have one she is beautiful.... and her coat is always pretty and evry dun ive seen looks pretty in summer and winter so i would go with the dun..
Reply:i personaly like buckskins. i juat love the color!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Who cares about color ? Buy the horse that suits you best. I have owned and ridden about every color. I buy for dispostion, conformation, ect...
Reply:blue roan. It is just an opinion and I think it is an amazing color!!
